Adelphi Papers

An International Institute for Strategic Studies publication. Online coverage (1997 - present) available from Taylor & Francis. Also available in print in the Barrington Library from 1961.

EBSCOhost research databases

Offers a broad range of full text and bibliographic databases designed for research including: Business Source Complete, E-Journals, eBook Collection, Environment Complete, ERIC, GreenFile, MEDLINE, PsycINFO, and Regional Business News.

IHS Jane's Defence Equipment and Technology

Data, information and analysis on the air, land, naval and joint defence platforms, weapons and systems in service and under development around the world. Its content underpins market-leading products such as Jane’s All the World’s Aircraft. Access to Data Analytics is also available, including specifications analysis. Register via the site for an individual account in order to save searches and request RFID feeds.

ScienceDirect

Full text journals published by Elsevier mainly in the field of science and technology. Also contains individual Elsevier eBooks that have been purchased by Cranfield University Libraries.

SpringerLink

Over 580 journals about health, science and mathematics plus thousands of engineering eBooks. Also includes index to Brill journals (not full text).

Annual review of world affairs published by the International Institute for Strategic Studies. Arranged in sections by geographical region.

Taylor and Francis Online

AERADE

Free, internet-based collection of over 4000 quality assessed resources worldwide. The resources are selected, evaluated, regularly monitored and last updated by subject specialists from Cranfield University. Each resource is described so that you can assess its potential value to you before you visit it.

AULIMP

The Air University Library Index to Military Periodicals (AULIMP) is a free, web-based service provided by the Defense Technical Information Service (DTIC). It contains citations to articles in English language military journals, concentrating particularly on management and the sociological aspects of the armed forces. There are links to full text electronic journals available on the internet including Army Logistician, Engineer, Joint Force Quarterly, Parameters, Signal and Soldiers.

INIS database

Operated by the International Atomic Energy Agency, the INIS database contains over three million bibliographic records covering nuclear science and technology.

Scopus

A large multidisciplinary abstract and indexing database that provides access to over 20,000 peer-reviewed titles, including 2,800 gold open access journals, from more than 5,000 international publishers. Scopus indexes more than 50,000 books, 6.5 million conference papers and 24 million patents from five patent offices.

Security and Risk Abstracts

Bibliographic database of three journals published by Perpetuity Press: Risk Management, Security Journal, and Crime Prevention and Community Safety.

Web of Science

The Web of Science covers many disciplines in the areas of engineering, science and the humanities, and provides access to the Web of Science, ISI Proceedings, MEDLINE and Journal Citation Reports (JCR).

An Institute of the European Union, having the status of an autonomous agency under the the Common Foreign and Security Policy (CFSP) of the EU. Web site provides news and analysis extracted from international media sources, along with information on publications, projects and seminars.

British and Irish Legal Information Institute

British and Irish case law & legislation, European Union case law, Law Commission reports, and other law-related British and Irish material.

Geneva Centre for the Democratic Control of Armed Forces

International foundation of 45 governments which encourages and supports States and non-State governed institutions to strengthen democratic and civilian control of armed and security forces, and promotes security sector reform. Includes full text occasional papers, policy papers and working papers.

International Crisis Group

Independent, non-profit, non-governmental organisation working through field-based analysis and high-level advocacy to prevent and resolve deadly conflict. Provides a database of reports and briefings searchable by region, date or keyword. Documents are available in Word or pdf.

Oxford Research Group: building bridges for global security

The ORG are an award winning, independent non-governmental organisation and registered charity, whose aims are to promote a more sustainable approach to security for the UK and the world. This site gives access to briefings, papers and reports. In April 2005, they were named one of the top 20 think tanks in the UK by The Independent newspaper.

Risks Digest

World Legal Information Institute

Gives free access to nearly 900 databases covering legal issues, from over 120 different countries. Also provides links to over 15,000 law-related web sites.
