What is the Copyright Declaration Form?

In order to comply with UK Copyright law you must complete the online declaration form for each interlibrary loan request (for an article, paper or book chapter for instance) which you intend to use for your study or research (i.e. for non-commercial purposes).

By clicking on the Is your request for private study? button you undertake to abide by the conditions of the 'The Copyright And Related Rights Regulations 2003'. In effect you are declaring that you will be using the photocopy for research for a non-commercial purpose or for private study and will not supply a copy to any other person.

Should you need to request an interlibrary loan of a journal article or conference paper for purposes other than academic study or research, you select the copyright clearance option in the online request form. You will be asked to provide a budget code to cover the request cost and additional copyright fee charged by the British Library.
