DTIC Online

Unclassified reports added to the Defense Technical Information Centre. Previously known as STINET.

INIS database

Operated by the International Atomic Energy Agency, the INIS database contains over three million bibliographic records covering nuclear science and technology.

PubMed

Search engine to citations and abstracts available via the NOBI Entrez retrieval database. Subjects covered include general science, life science and chemistry. Access to the MEDLINE database is also offered.

SciFinder Scholar

Only available on-campus with an individual username & password, SciFinder Scholar, produced by the Chemical Abstract Service, is a key tool for academic scientific research in the fields of chemistry and life science. It provides references from over 9,500 currently published journals and patents from over 50 active patent issuing authorities. SciFinder Scholar also contains the world's largest collection of organic and inorganic substance information. SciFinder is only available to Cranfield University staff and students for their academic research. Scopus

A large multidisciplinary abstract and indexing database that provides access to over 20,000 peer-reviewed titles, including 2,800 gold open access journals, from more than 5,000 international publishers. Scopus indexes more than 50,000 books, 6.5 million conference papers and 24 million patents from five patent offices.

Web of Science

The Web of Science covers many disciplines in the areas of engineering, science and the humanities, and provides access to the Web of Science, ISI Proceedings, MEDLINE and Journal Citation Reports (JCR).

The Open University repository of research publications and other output from 2001 to date. The resource is searchable and by academic unit/department, interdisciplinary research centre and year.

DOAJ Directory of Open Access Journals

A directory of quality controlled open access journals in all scholarly and scientific subject areas. Contains over 2500 titles. These journals do not impose an embargo period but some may require free online registration.

Oxford Research Group: building bridges for global security

The ORG are an award winning, independent non-governmental organisation and registered charity, whose aims are to promote a more sustainable approach to security for the UK and the world. This site gives access to briefings, papers and reports. In April 2005, they were named one of the top 20 think tanks in the UK by The Independent newspaper.

UK Defence Standardization

The DStan organisation develops and communicates UK MOD standardization policies, defence standards, procedures and guidance on standardization issues. Copies of electronic and hard copy versions of all extant UK Defence Standards are available from DStan. *Some may be charged for. If Barrington Library members require a defence standard which is not free, please contact your Barrington Library team.
