ABI Inform (ProQuest)

Major management database featuring thousands of journals, dissertations, key business periodicals, country- and industry-focused reports, and downloadable data. Includes ABI-INFORM Trade and Industry: publications on every major industry, including finance, insurance, transportation and construction.

Adelphi Papers

An International Institute for Strategic Studies publication. Coverage from vol 43 2003. Also available in print in the Barrington Library from 1985.

Bioline International

Collection of 82 journals from over 15 countries. Subjects covered include public health, international development, crop science, tropical medicine and biodiversity.

Cambridge Journals Digital Archive

Provides access to 171 journals published by Cambridge University Press. The collection includes a mixture of titles with publication dates running from 1827 until approximately 2000. Subjects covered include Humanities, Social Sciences, Science, Technology and Medicine.

Conflict, Security and Development

Quarterly journal published by Taylor and Francis which covers topics on development, security studies, policy analysis, conflict prevention and security sector reform. Full text available from 2001.

Defence and Peace Economics

Journal published six times per year. Published by Taylor & Francis. Full text available from 1997 onwards.

DOAJ Directory of Open Access Journals

A directory of quality controlled open access journals in all scholarly and scientific subject areas. Contains over 2500 titles. These journals do not impose an embargo period but some may require free online registration.

Geneva Centre for the Democratic Control of Armed Forces

International foundation of 45 governments which encourages and supports States and non-State governed institutions to strengthen democratic and civilian control of armed and security forces, and promotes security sector reform. Includes full text occasional papers, policy papers and working papers.

International Crisis Group

Independent, non-profit, non-governmental organisation working through field-based analysis and high-level advocacy to prevent and resolve deadly conflict. Provides a database of reports and briefings searchable by region, date or keyword. Documents are available in Word or pdf.

International Relations and Security Network

Based in Switzerland, this organisation generates and disseminates knowledge, as well as facilitating information exchange and dialogue supporting research institutes, international organisations and professionals working in the security community.

Oxford Research Group: building bridges for global security

The ORG are an award winning, independent non-governmental organisation and registered charity, whose aims are to promote a more sustainable approach to security for the UK and the world. This site gives access to briefings, papers and reports. In April 2005, they were named one of the top 20 think tanks in the UK by The Independent newspaper.

RUSI - Royal United Services Institute for Defence and Security Studies

RUSI was founded in 1831 to study naval and military science and continues to research developments in military doctrine, defence management and defence procurement, all issues of defence and security, including terrorism and man-made and natural disasters. The following RUSI publications: Whitehall Papers, RUSI Newsbrief are available in print from the Barrington Library and RUSI Journal and RUSI Defence Systems are also available in electronic format in the Digital Library.

Transparency International

Organisation working with individuals and groups at national and international levels to change laws, regulations and practices in order to stamp out corruption and prevent its recurrence. Provides full text reports. Includes annual Global Corruption Reports which ranks countries on perceived levels of corruption.

UK Defence Forum

A not-for-profit organisation in which politicians, academics, senior industrialists, and military personnel discuss defence and security issues. Includes full text papers and briefings up to 2002. For full access email ukdf@north-house.com to obtain a username and password.
