DOAJ Directory of Open Access Journals

A directory of quality controlled open access journals in all scholarly and scientific subject areas. Contains over 2500 titles. These journals do not impose an embargo period but some may require free online registration.

International Crisis Group

Independent, non-profit, non-governmental organisation working through field-based analysis and high-level advocacy to prevent and resolve deadly conflict. Provides a database of reports and briefings searchable by region, date or keyword. Documents are available in Word or pdf.

Oxford Research Group: building bridges for global security

The ORG are an award winning, independent non-governmental organisation and registered charity, whose aims are to promote a more sustainable approach to security for the UK and the world. This site gives access to briefings, papers and reports. In April 2005, they were named one of the top 20 think tanks in the UK by The Independent newspaper.

RUSI - Royal United Services Institute for Defence and Security Studies

RUSI was founded in 1831 to study naval and military science and continues to research developments in military doctrine, defence management and defence procurement, all issues of defence and security, including terrorism and man-made and natural disasters. The following RUSI publications: Whitehall Papers, RUSI Newsbrief are available in print from the Barrington Library and RUSI Journal and RUSI Defence Systems are also available in electronic format in the Digital Library.
